What it changes
Pain, spread out
Load is distributed across a wider area of the chest wall instead of concentrating at the incision or fracture — which is what reduces reliance on pain medication.
Breathing preserved
Patients who splint their breathing risk pneumonia and atelectasis. Support makes a deep breath and an effective cough possible again.
Earlier mobilisation
Pain is the main reason patients stay still after chest surgery. Remove it and the rehabilitation timeline moves forward.
