Terms of sale
These are the terms you buy on. They are written to be read, not to be got around: nothing here takes away a right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing here can.
Between you and Posthorax Australia (ABN 34 685 722 909), PO Box 1412, Capalaba QLD 4157.
The short version
- Prices on this site are in Australian dollars and include GST. Delivery is shown separately before you pay.
- Your order is accepted when we dispatch it, or when we email to say we have.
- If a device is faulty you have rights we cannot exclude.
- These devices support a chest. They are not a substitute for your surgeon’s advice.

1. Who you are buying from
Posthorax Australia (ABN 34 685 722 909) is the supplier of the goods sold through posthorax.com.au. These terms apply to every order placed on the site or over the phone by a consumer. Hospital, clinic and distributor supply runs on a purchase order and separate account terms — see the hospitals page.
2. Prices and GST
Prices shown to consumers on this site are the total price in Australian dollars including GST, as the single price rule in the Australian Consumer Law requires. Delivery is charged separately and is shown in full before you confirm payment. The one exception is the hospitals page, where unit prices are quoted ex GST for purchasing officers and are labelled as such.
Orders delivered to New Zealand are GST-free exports from Australia. New Zealand GST, duties or customs charges, if any are levied on arrival, are yours to pay.
We may change prices at any time, but never after you have paid: the price you are charged is the price displayed at checkout. If a price is obviously wrong through a genuine error, we will contact you before dispatch and you may cancel for a full refund. A tax invoice showing our ABN and the GST is issued with every order.
3. Placing an order
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we accept it — when we dispatch the goods, or email to confirm dispatch. Until then we may decline an order: if a size is out of stock, if the delivery address is outside the areas we serve, or if we cannot verify the payment. If we decline, we refund you in full.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the delivery address, the fit and the size you select. If you are unsure, use the sizing guide or call us on 1300 707 222 before you order — we would much rather size it with you than have you post it back.
4. Payment
Payment is by card, processed by Stripe on Stripe’s own secure checkout. Card details are never entered on this site and are never held by us. Payment is taken in full at the time of the order. Title to the goods passes to you on full payment; risk passes on delivery, as set out below.
5. Delivery
| Destination | Typical time | Delivery charge |
|---|---|---|
| Australia — ThoraxBelt, Chestfix | 5–7 business days | $16.50 inc. GST |
| Australia — PRO Support Vest | 1–3 weeks | $16.50 inc. GST |
| New Zealand | 7–28 days | $25.00 GST-free |
One delivery charge per order, however many devices are in it. Delivery times are estimates given in good faith, not guarantees, and they depend on the carrier. If your surgery date is close, call us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it will arrive in time.
Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to the address you gave us. If a parcel arrives damaged, or does not arrive at all, contact us — that is ours to sort out, not yours.
6. Your consumer guarantees
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in these terms limits those guarantees. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, we limit it to replacing the goods, supplying equivalent goods, or refunding what you paid — at our option.
How to make a claim, and what happens next, is set out on the returns and refunds page.
7. What these devices are, and are not
POSTHORAX® devices are external thoracic supports, manufactured in Austria and supplied as single-patient devices — one device, one patient, for hygiene and consistent fit. They are not to be shared, resold or reprocessed.
Everything on this website is general information. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it does not replace the instructions of your surgeon, physiotherapist or treating team. Whether a support is appropriate for you, and when to start and stop wearing it, is their call. Use the device according to the instructions supplied with it.
If something goes wrong while you are using a device — skin breakdown, worsening pain, a wound problem — stop, contact your treating team, and tell us as well. We may be required to report certain adverse events to the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
8. Health fund rebates
Many Australian patients claim part of the cost through the extras cover on a private health policy. Whether you are covered, and for how much, is between you and your fund — cover differs by fund, by policy and by what is left of your annual limit, and we cannot promise a rebate. What we can promise is the paperwork: a tax invoice with every order, itemised, re-issued on request. See the rebate guide.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, and subject always to your consumer guarantees, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for loss caused by using a device contrary to its instructions or your treating team’s advice, or for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Where liability can lawfully be capped, it is capped at the amount you paid for the goods concerned.
10. Privacy
We handle your information as described in our privacy policy, including the health information you give us for sizing. Placing an order means you accept that policy along with these terms.
11. Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, so keep your confirmation email. The version and date are at the top of this page.
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have jurisdiction — which does not stop you bringing a claim wherever the law otherwise entitles you to.
